Crayon Painting

Sorry everyone, this will be an un-church-lated blog. I’m sorry Tracey. Please don’t fire me. Oh wait. Why would you fire me since I work for free? Wow. Off Subject. I get off subject a lot? Can you tell? Off Subject Again. Let’s get started.

Crayon Painting! *very fun for kids* (and easy!)

Yes, it is as fun as it sounds.

Before you start you should know, before you freak out, that 47 out of 48 crayons should fit at the top of the canvas. I had a complete panic attack when 1 didn’t fit, until I realized 1 was not supposed to fit. I overreact a lot. Ask my Mom.

I showed this craft to my class and they… well… DOWNRIGHT LOVED IT!!!

What you’ll need

-A 16″ x 20″ white, blank canvas (available @ WalMart)

-A box of 48 Crayola Crayons (available @ WalMart)

[And if you're a serious anti-Walmart person, most of these things are available @ Hobby Lobby.] {I <3 HOBBY LOBBY!}

-A Blow Dryer

-A hot glue gun & glue (available @ WalMart)

-Plastic/Newspaper

Steps

1. Lay the crayons out in rainbow order as best as you can on the 16″ side of the canvas (crayons do not come in rainbow order)

2. Slide the crayons down the canvas so you have room to hot glue them

3. Make two rows of hot glue for about 4 inches. Then, place the crayons on the canvas with the ‘Crayola’ facing up (looks more professional, and that’s what I’m all about. not.) repeat step #3 until the canvas is filled up with crayons

4. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PLASTIC/NEWSPAPER COVERING YOUR AREA WHEN DOING THIS STEP!!!!!! (I cannot stress this enough!)

Set up Newspaper or Plastic. Blow dry the crayons and control where the wax/color goes

5. Hang up so the world can experience your true artistic abilities.

Just a Regular Church Day

**HEY KIDS** (K-5 grade) Did you hear if you come 5 days to Sunday School, Ellen will give you a big candy bar! A win-win! (Snickers, Reeces, Milky Way…)

Winn’s Pizza for dinner on November 16 at TGIW! met success! My favorite was the cheese.

I hope you were able to make it to the square on Friday and go to the Holiday Extravaganza! If you did, you were able to see Santa! (Who wouldn’t want to do that?) And if the kids were broke and they couldn’t by anything for their parents, there was a FREE gift for Mom & Dad. High school-aged people helped guide kids around the mini-store find something for FREE, and wrap it and EVEN put a tag that said FROM TYLER TO MOM on it. Even though I had Winn’s at TGIW! on Wednesday, (Winnsday!) we had it Saturday too. Minus the 1-hour wait it was the best. But, hey, I’ve got all the time in the world. Okay.. we’re getting a little off subject. God; powerful, amazing, awesome. See you next week.

My Ideas on things to do for TGIW!:

I really think it would be cool to go to the Corner Sundry in TGIW! Of course, parents would have to pay a [small] fee for ice cream.
I also think it would be fun to go over to the track at Simpson and exercise a little there. Then we can learn about staying fit/active.

I LOVE how we get to go outside at TGIW!

That is an {amazing} idea!!

In TGIW! this week we made clay sculptures of what represents ourselves.

Jump In to Jump Start Sunday School!

Wow! Sunday School Candy Walk was a HUGE success! I just want to say, Tracey, my boss… My best friend’s mom… Thank you! Also, Ellen, my [co-] boss… Thank you! The committee prepared the best candy walk on the face of the universe. Thank you all for bringing candies, pies and other delicious treats! Also if you were at the candy walk (If you weren’t you might as well put this blog away!) you might have seen me with a press hat on and some cool new sunglasses I won at the duck pond! I asked a few of my friends and they voted and 75% of them liked the bouncy races the best.

We had to wake my sister up from her beauty sleep and we had to drag her to the church because she was half-asleep. You wanna know what woke her up?! The big bouncy houses! She jumped out of the car once we stopped! And if you weren’t here a last Sunday… I command you to come next week! It is SO fun!

Moving On; Also on the first Thank God It’s Wednesday (TGIW!) for dinner we had Winn’s Pizza! Deliciousness! Again if you didn’t come, you better! If you or your child are in the grades of 3rd, 4th or 5th, you have the one and only choice to be in JKids! [6:00-6:30] It is a fun activity! So is Bells! [5:30-6:00] I’m not sure of the age range on bells, but you can check out the website for more information. Well what are you waiting for? Go join now! Please contact Janna Booher or Becky Hastie. And for our TGIW! class, the 4th and 5th graders got to play with the parachute. It was fun! Our awesome teachers are Awesome Miss Jessica, Awesome David and Awesome Katie!
